Historical Note
During the turn of the 20th century, it was fashionable for shops and banks to commission “Christmas Greeting” souvenir cups as tokens of appreciation for loyal customers. They were often filled with candy or small gifts and distributed at Christmastime. The tradition faded by World War I, leaving these delicate custard-glass mugs as nostalgic reminders of early American holiday advertising.
